With your help, the CMC was recently able to convince the City that it should not move forward on its latest attempt to regulate event promoters. CMC knows that promoters are generally responsible and law abiding and perform a key service to help keep Chicago music cutting edge and vibrant. One of the CMC's fundamental objections to how the City tried to get that ordinance passed was that it did not receive meaningful public input from the music community. » Ald. The bill that did not get reported out of the City Council's Licensing and Consumer Protection Committee is still alive and the City Council still controls when and if that bill will be revived. Therefore, CMC is committed to staying vigilant to make sure your voice is heard, and to work to come up with a solution that allows for Chicago music to continue to thrive safely and responsibly.
